Happy New Year!

We’re already planning lots of events and trips for 2026 and don’t want you to miss out.

In January we’ll be returning to see our friends at Harrison & Harrison Organ Builders Factory. Due to the popularity of our trips last year we have been lucky enough to plan another trip for all those who missed out last year and give the opportunity to all our new members too.

We hope to be able to bring your more musical related events this year so watch this space!

In April we’re off to Scotland!

This year the Friends are planning a weekend visit Scotland on 24-27th April.

Our Scottish tour (three nights / four day break) includes visits to Dunfermline Abbey & Palace, Abbotsford House, Stirling Castle, Rosslyn Chapel, Dunblane Cathedral, Culross, The Kelpies and more!

The Kelpies - the world's largest equine sculptures.

It promises to be an action packed, fun filled weekend and this may be something you would be interested in joining. We currently have a few twin and double rooms free but unfortunately, we have now sold out of single rooms. So please feel free to email the office for more details: friends@durhamcathedral.co.uk.

Festival Day takes place on Saturday 6th June and is a celebration of all things Friends – members are invited to exclusive tours and organ recital, optional lunch, AGM and concludes with a special Evensong Service and ending choristers singing from the Tower! One of the most popular events in our year and one to mark in your diary.

The year will feature regular events such as our popular lecture series, where you can join us in person or catch up online. Our talks are free to our members and feature a wide range of guest speakers who highlight a range of aspects of cathedral life and Durham Cathedral’s rich history.

What events would you like to see next?

We’ll be adding new events throughout the year so please keep checking our emails and website so you don’t miss out and tell all your friends may not have access to emails too.
