New Members Event 2025

Welcoming new members to the Friends of Durham Cathedral

We held our New Members Event on 6th August, inviting our new members to a complimentary tour of the cathedral and museum returning back to Prior’s Hall for refreshments, tea, coffee and scones.

We welcomed over 20 of our new members in Prior’s Hall, before joining our expert volunteer guides, Maureen and Jeanne, for their exclusive tours of Durham Cathedral.

Friends spent the afternoon exploring the cathedral, asking question, learning facts.

Members were treated to a tour of the Durham Cathedral Museum too, where the current Magna Carta and the North Exhibition is taking place.

Our tour guides received fantastic feedback, with one member even booking a private tour for himself and a future visitor!

Once our members finished their tours they were welcomed in Prior’s Hall by Caroline, our Chair, and thanked them for their support. We all enjoyed refreshments and some delicious homemade scone by Hon Secretary Christine and spent the rest of the afternoon chatting and meet new getting to know more about our new friends.
