'The Bayeux Tapestry is an 11th-century artwork that tells the story of events leading up to the Battle of Hastings in 1066, in words and images. The Tapestry is, in fact, an embroidery, made of dyed wool stitched onto a bleached linen background fabric.  

The Bayeux Tapestry will be on display at the British Museum between 10 September 2026 and 11 July 2027. This is the first time since it was made nearly 1,000 years ago that the Tapestry has returned to England, making it a unique and historic opportunity to see it outside of France'.
